Lecturer in Computing - Greenford

Global Banking School is looking for a dedicated Lecturer in Computing. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to our academic programs. Responsibilities include teaching across a range of computing related modules, contributing to curriculum development. We are currently seeking both Full Time and Hourly Paid Lecturers.

We have achieved outstanding results in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), scoring above the sector average in all themes and we improved on last year's exceptional results in 7 out of 10 themes.

Please note we will require you to be flexible to work evenings and weekends as required.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities in brief:

  • All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
  • Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
  • Manage and lead modules/ units.
  • Keep up-to-date with specific and pedagogic innovations.
  • As a part of team, play a full and pro-active part in engaging and retaining students.
  • Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials including live online learning.
  • Attend meetings as required, to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within the various teams you will be engaged with.
  • To actively be involved in staff development activities and peer observations.

Requirements

Essential 

  • You will hold qualifications at least at master’s level in the relevant subject area (e.g., computing, IT or computer science) and will ideally hold a PhD or be able to demonstrate equivalent high level professional experience in the discipline.

  • Good knowledge of one or more of the following areas:

    Programming and software development
    Web development and digital marketing
    Database systems
    Cloud computing
    Networking and cybersecurity.
    IoT and emerging technologies.
    Business analysis and digital transformation

  • Experience teaching in the wider subject area

  • Previous lecturing experience for similar courses

  • Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback

Desirable

  • Teaching qualifications: PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc

  • Experience of working in the industry of your subject areas.
