Education Developer

As GBS grows rapidly and we develop our capabilities in degree awards, there is a need to ensure that our staff are up to date on current higher educational pedagogic practice, course design and curriculum enhancement and that they are able to respond and adapt quickly to the needs of our students.

This ongoing cycle of training, development, scholarship and self-reflection is key their success at GBS, and the work of the educational developers will support the implementation of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy 2022-25 with its emphasis on academic, personal and digital skills and boosting the capabilities and qualifications of our staff to meet contemporary demands in the context of widening participation in HE.

Please note this role is working fully on-site ideally at our Greenford campus.

Main Responsibilities

  • Enhance the practice and pedagogical development of GBS staff with educational guidance in line with evolving strategies;
  • To deliver and further develop the new Assistant Lecturer role development programme at GBS;
  • Delivering workshops and producing relevant resources to enhance digital literacy, inclusive practices and work-related learning across GBS in line with the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy and related strategies and policies;
  • To address poor performance by intervening where teaching is identified as poor;
  • To identify and promote good practice across GBS, for internal and external audiences and quality agencies;
  • Provide one-to-one and in-faculty support to teaching and student support staff at GBS in relation to sector standards and expectations of quality;
  • To lead and report on impact of projects to promote and enhance the quality of teaching and learning at GBS;
  • To mentor and support applicants with Fellowship of the HEA;
  • To deliver workshops for staff that may be required as a result of student feedback, external examiner reports or partnership reports.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • The candidate must have or be nearing completion of a higher degree in a subject related to teaching and learning.
  • A proven track record of achieving high quality outcomes on projects and plans;
  • Substantial evaluation and research experience in a relevant area;
  • Familiarity with HE metrics and frameworks;
  • Understand the importance of enhancing the reputation of GBS as a high quality private provider of higher education;
  • Experience of leading academic colleagues through change and through adapting to a dynamic and demanding environment;
  • Excellent inter-personal and leadership qualities;
  • Can show a commitment to GBS values and embody this in the way that they work at GBS.
